About Us
During the mid 70's, I took up the hobby of candle making. It was something the children and I enjoyed, and something that we could do together as a family. We stopped making candles when wax became hard to come by. Years later my parents kept bringing home these carved candles from their winter vacations and I just loved them. Later,I had the privilege of seeing someone carving these candles and was hooked.
In 1988, after much inquiry, I found a source for wax supplies and materials. Once I received that literature and materials I tried and tried and tried. It finally came after several attempts. What started out as a hobby, ended up taking over the basement. Then in 1995, after the candles and shipping materials had taken over the entire house, we decided to open a store. We felt that our unique business would add a nice touch to our local main street. Members of my business include friends and the help from my husband, brother, son, and granddaughter. Having such a close relationship with my employees gives our shop a very warm and friendly atmosphere.
The Iowa State Horticulture Society selected our candles for the "All Iowa Store" at the 1999 Home and Garden Show in Des Moines during February. Our outings consist a working demonstration and sales area at the Clay County Fair, Spencer, Iowa the first full week after Labor Day and the Holiday Season at North Grand Mall at Ames, Iowa.
